I am aged, Come for darsan here- Periayva.
Periayava was camping at Kalavai. Sundaramurthy,devotee of Periyava that devotees wanted for darsan of Periyava and so Periyava must come once again to Walaja. Periyava that I am aged and cannot walk for Walaja once again. So I am here. So the devotees can come and see me here. But Sundramurthy said that there were devotees who cannot make over here. Periayava listened to Sundaramurthy and so he went to Walaja again to bless the devotees. Such was the karunai of Periyava.
Poltiical party, report-Periyava said no.-Brahmins-arugampul
Tamil Nadu went to polls. A devotee connected with the political party approached Periyava through some other devotees that Periyava must issued a press stament asking to vote for that political party. Another devotee was no happy over this issue and he said how a political party leader can approach Periayva for issuing a press statement.But Periyava said to the devotee who approached him to issue a press statement that the responsibilities of the Sri Matam are now with the Pudu Periyava. So I cannot issue any statement. Moreover, some days before Pudu Periyava issued a press statement that we are religious body, we cannot support any party. Pudu Periyava did not want to support or supported any political party. Periyava quoting thePudu Periyava statement that Pudu Periayava had already issued a statement. I cannot issue any statement that means the report of Pudu Periyava carries no meaning. Thus Periyava stood by the report of Pudu Periyava. So differences between Periyava and Pudu Periyava over this issue was sorted out in a gentle manner by Periyava.
The devotee who approached Periayava said if no statement was issued from Sri Matam, they may give troubles to Brahmins. Periyava said that if I did not issue a statement, if they give troubles to Brahmin, let them face it and we cannot do anything for it. Periyava continued that Brahmins are like aragumpul. They cannot be destroyed. At times when troubles are on, they may seem to be dull but when they get good time, they will return to normal life. Araugampul may look dry during sunny days or there is no water, but it will grow where water is present and Brahmins are like aragumpul. Aragumpul cannot be destroyed easily. It will grow here and then after some it will grow in another place. So Brahmins will take care of themselves.
Periyava eye sight
For us, many felt that Periyava’s eye sight had faded. Kaingariya devotees used to say to Periyava that there were steps , steps like that. For kaingariya devotees, Periyava had less vision and they thought their timely help was required. When devotees came for darsan, Periyava asked the kaingariya devotee to call the devotee( who was performing puja in a pillaiayar temple at Sembakkam,Vellore-Pillaiayar shetram) wearing nosering. It was unusual for gents to wear nosering. Many searched for that nosering devotee but he was standing behind Periyava. Sundaramurthy told others that we are thinking that Periyava ‘s vision was not good and we were helping him . But we had not noticed that a devotee was wearing nosering but Periayava was able to note it when there a large number of devotees. Thus Periyava’s eyesight during 1984 was good.
Periyava camped at Sholingar- Karvet nagar-Perun Kanchi. Sundaramurthy , Ramayana Srinivasan and other devotees were with Periyava. Ramayana Srinivasan is now with Bala Periyava and he is doing kaingarium now to Pudu Periyava. Sundaramurthy used to attend his classes – office -during day time and during evening hours, he was with Periayava. When Periayva was in Perun Kanchi, some old ladies came for darsan of Periayva.
